Job Description

The Vice President IT Operations manages the Vonage Network Operations team, which includes overseeing personnel across various functional areas including Network operations/monitoring, Systems Operations, Applications, Call Processing, Data Center Operations, Operational Support Systems. The VP IT Operations is responsible for the continual optimization and on-going performance of the Vonage VoIP network and IT data centers. Develop goals, initiatives, strategies and drive actions in all functional areas under the Network Operations division, including network operations, systems operations, production support, and escalated customer support teams Create and effectively use performance measurements to quantify and benchmark personnel performance, technology productivity, effectiveness and customer service levels Own responsibility for operating and management of an Internet-based service provider platform, with the following components: Networking technologies: TCP/IP based infrastructure, with multi-site, multi-provider IP routing and MPLS traffic management Services: enterprise and customer-facing DNS; postfix/sendmail-based email servers Linux and Solaris based application platforms, deployed over multiple sites and operated in a "lights-out", unmanned environment Vonage-owned data center facilities and management of external data center co-location vendors Data center HVAC, power systems and data center operations Distributed internally developed applications written in C++, Python, Ruby and Java servlet (Weblogic, Jboss) Enterprise and customer-facing DNS services NFS and CIFS-based storage systems (NetApp, EMC) Manage a high-performing operations team and monitor staff and system resources and ensure resources are augmented or pruned as necessary to support profitability and cost efficiency Prepare and manage annual Network Capital and Operating Expense budget, including the recommendation of short-range plans and budgets Build a strong team culture within a Network Operations organization, while stressing an environment of customer service and support Minimum of 12-15 years of progressively responsible experience leading the Operations technology unit of a complex organization is required - 5-7 years in a senior management role including supervising staff and supporting multi-site operations. Demonstrated achievements in implementing and operating multiple technology environments in a radically growing organization Experience with budget development and management Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation and listening) and ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience and executive management Ability to successfully work cross-functionally under significant time and budget pressures Industry experience with a proven history of leading the operations and performance of a technology department Honed strategic thinking, budgeting, and organizing to clearly communicate individual and department values and needs to motivate Network Operations (Directors, Managers) to high performance levels Interaction with all facets of the business, including Engineering, Development, IT, Finance, HR, Marketing, Consulting Services Comprehension of technical issues, but also a "big picture" thinker looking for ways to improve and grow the product support operations Strong background in networking, telecommunications or ecommerce Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment, clearly communicate department priorities, as well as engage with customers to ensure a quality customer experience is achieved Demonstrated experience in management, strong decision making ability, and willingness to support changing department initiatives Education Bachelor's or Master's/advanced technology degree or relevant experience required
