Capital One's Commercial Bank contains an approximately $60B (exposure) loan portfolio that has grown by virtue of three acquisitions (North Fork, Hibernia, and Chevy Chase). The commercial portfolio consists of Commercial Real Estate, Commercial and Industrial, and Commercial Specialty loans with customers located primarily on the East Coast of the United States. The bank is in the process of developing a suite of Dual Risk Rating models that produce Probability of Default and Loss Given Default. These are used for a variety of applications including the Allowance, Stress Testing, and Economic Capital. We are in the process of completing the first versions of these statistical models and are looking to develop and execute a blueprint for the second generation of these statistical models. To that end, we are looking for a candidate to lead the Probability of Default modeling team which reports to the head of Quantitative Modeling

Responsibilities:
1. Create a roadmap to develop/refine new and existing default models
2. Lead a team of 4 modelers to execute this vision
3. Engage the Line of Business in the development process
4. Collaborate with the ALLL, Stress Testing, EC and Strategy teams to effectively use these models
5. Ensure that the models meet BASEL requirements

The Person
The successful candidate will be someone who can operate effectively in a matrixed environment, serving and fulfilling the analytical needs within the banking organization. She/he will exhibit excellent people leadership skills to leverage the capabilities of peers, business partners, and associates along with the confidence to effectively influence the Capital One executive leadership team. Strong business judgment, communications and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
- 5 years of default modeling experience within a commercial bank or in an advisory capacity
- Bachelors degree in a quantitative and analytical discipline (e.g., Financial Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering) or military experience

Preferred Qualifications
-7-10 years of default modeling and application experience within a commercial bank or in an advisory capacity
-PhD in a quantitative and analytical discipline (e.g., Financial Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering)
-Very strong communication skills
-Very strong influencing skills
-Excellent analytical and statistical skills
-Very strong organizational skills
-Results driven approach to work
