Job Description

The Senior Programmer (Business Objects DeveloperReport Writer) will be responsible for business analysis, custom report writing and technical direction regarding data structures and reporting queries. Responsibilities include designing, developing and implementing Business Objects reports, specifically using Ellucian's Colleague Reporting and Operating Analytics (CROA) designing and delivering custom reports based on user requirements providing technical direction, support and assistance to users in extracting and collecting data for performing queries and writing reports providing training to users who wish to create their own reports defining needs, logic and databases, codes programs and routinely being involved in the processing of a variety of minor and intermediate applications investigating and analyzing systems and procedures to improve performance andor solve problems assisting in the preparation of project plans and schedules, including requirements, work assignments, resources and the inclusion of project milestones, reviewing points and reporting working with users to thoroughly test programs and procedures special projects and additional duties as assigned. Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems required. Minimum of 5-7 years experience developing ad-hoc reports andor designing dashboards accessible via a web-based platform. Experience using Ellucian Colleague, SAP Business Objects and Crystal Reports demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server including triggers, database design and stored procedures with an emphasis in Business Intelligence experience in relational database design and development with strong understanding of design best practices and how to troubleshoot query performance and enhance efficiency experience writing and debugging stored procedures, SQL Views, specifically used in a reporting context working knowledge of Data Warehouse solutions is preferred, as well as, experience with Datatel Reporting and Operating Analytics (DROA), Datatel Dashboards, Business Intelligence, Datatel DataOrchestrator (ODS), Universes, DataMarts. Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively, set own timelines and ability to work under deadline pressure ability to translate business needs into data analysis and reporting solutions ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations team-oriented with a very high focus on customer service strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to relate technical concepts to non-technical users proven ability to learn new data structures and the business processes surrounding and utilizing those structures detail oriented self-starter, ability to work independently and as a team strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people at all levels within the College and with outside contacts must be able to work with a diverse population.
