Data Solutions Architect The Data Solutions Architect is responsible for the assessment of business requirements, collection and identification of technical application specifications, and the subsequent design and delivery of end to end technology solutions combining innovative new technology with re-use of existing platforms and applications in order to maximize leverage of Clients substantial technology investment. They will be expected to envision and create solutions that meet requirements, work with project teams and business users to develop logical and physical architectures to enable business solution delivery, advise in the design development of the solutions ensuring architecture goals and alignment to the future state are achieved and ultimately guide solutions through to completion and implementation into production. The DSA will work with the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure that solutions are designed for optimal access and usefulness, leverage existing technologies for their specific technical domain(s) and enterprise-wide impacts are understood and addressed. They will assist in nearmid-term roadmap creation, to address gaps and progress Client towards the end state architecture to support future business growth and innovation. The DSA will be responsible for documenting the current state of Clients solution architecture, collaborating with Architects from peer IT groups to develop solution blueprints, and assuring the adoption of standards. I. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONS This position reports to IT Director, Warehousing Presentation. You will be the cross technical specialist and demonstrate your leadership by being able to understand the technology that is needed to meet the client's business requirements, and articulate this to both technical and business stakeholders. II. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Creates program and project architecture deliverables including the Solutions Architecture Blueprint. Creates and maintains Business System Architecture Blueprints. Leads Logical model development and the transition to High Level Design. Guides application development teams in the design and build of complex applications and ensures that teams are in alignment with the Solutions Architecture Blueprint. Drives re-use across programs and projects. Provides architectural consultation, support, mentoring, and guidance. Defines and enforces solution architecture standards, procedures, metrics and policies. Develops detailed architecture plans and drives the plans to fruition. Coordinate and assist Development Managers to ensure alignment of design work with solution architecture. Collaborates with both IT and business senior level leadership to influence decisions controlling 100s of millions of dollars in annual technology and business investment in Clients highly leveraged technology environment. Drives the adoption of new technologies and development methods Contributes to Development standards, drives creation of standards for areas of expertise Defines conceptual and logical architecture discipline, capabilities, and practices under the guidance of Portfolio Architecture. Applies application and data architecture patterns to design and build solutions. III. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE SKILLS BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. 10+ years of Information Technology experience. 5+ years of Data Modeling Architecture experience. 3+ years of Software Architecture experience. Proven and demonstrable experience architecting, designing and implementing enterprise-scale, high volume, high availability systems. Proven and demonstrable experience of working with a number of financial instruments Experience with development frameworks as well as data and integration technologies. Experience establishing and documenting standards, guidelines, and best practices. Experience with modeling techniques, such as BPM, UML, ER, etc. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong ability to influence IT, business partners, and service providers Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman Strong verbal and written communication skills Business Acumen (competitive positioning, financial acumen, strategic thinking, decision making) Communication Skills (writing, questioning, listening, content delivery) Problem Solving, Coaching and Mentoring
