Since the White House introduced its Joining Forces initiative in April 2011 to encourage private companies to hire veterans, 1,600 corporations have signed on to the project, pledging to hire as many as 240,000 through the end of 2013. Yet veterans face a number of unique challenges adjusting to civilian life, particularly when it comes to getting a job.
